Types of Hard Bait

Crankbait

A crankbait is best used by casting it out and reeling it straight back to you. Even if you vary the speed of retrieval, the bait operates the same way each time. The two primary types of crankbaits are lipless and lipped crankbaits. Lipped crankbaits have a bill in the front of the lure, which forces the crankbait down into the water when you reel it in. These crankbaits float, so when you aren't retrieving them, they will start to float toward the surface. This allows the bait to stay within certain depths of the body of water you are fishing, making them ideal for shallow waters.

Jerkbait

JerkbaitTo use a jerkbait properly, you must twitch or move the fishing rod in a way that causes the bait to mimic an injured bait fish. This requires some finesse, so these fishing baits are harder for beginners to use. Most jerkbaits will have a lip or bill that allows them to dive deeper into the water as you are reeling. Since jerkbaits are often floating or suspending lures, once you stops retrieving them they begin to float or suspend in the water. This keeps them from hitting or staying at the bottom.

Top Water Lures

Top Water BaitTop water lures are floating plastic baits that mimic small bait animals as you reel them in across the surface of the water. Top water frogs are some of the most common top water lures. Top water frogs are primarily used for largemouth bass in areas where there are a lot of frogs present.

Advantages of Hard Bait

Throwing distance - Many hard baits have special design of long-range casting system, so that the weight of the bait can be transferred to the tail of the bait when throwing, thus changing the gravity center of the bait and increasing the flying distance of the bait. Due to the small shape of the iron bait, the resistance can be increased, such as the hard plate. Most of the time, metal bait has become the preferred bait for many anglers because of its excellent performance.

Durability - Another advantage of hard bait is that hard bait can withstand the attack of target fish and general abrasion. If used properly, the service life of hard bait will certainly be longer than that of soft bait.

Large vibration / stroke - The hard structure enables some hard baits to vibrate violently under water, thus triggering the attack response of some fish. Hard bait such as metal VIB can clearly feel the strong vibration of bait in the water from the fishing rod. Some soft baits have the same high frequency vibration, such as T-tail soft bait or soft VIB, but their vibration is much more subtle than hard bait.

Sound - Many hard baits have rattle beads that attract fish by sound. The hard structure of the hard bait is easier to make sound, and the sound is relatively larger and can spread further. Although there are some soft baits that can be inserted into small accessories with rattles, the sound of the soft bait is far less loud than that of the hard bait.

Color/Design of Hard Bait

All hard baits are designed to attract fish. Some baits are painted to resemble specific bait, such as certain species of minnows, shad, or crawfish. Others are painted in extremely colorful ways to attract the attention of fish.

The color or design you pack in your tackle box to use depends on the fish you are targeting and the body of water you are fishing. For example, light-colored or natural-colored baits are often best used for fishing in a lot of sunlight and clear water, as this ensures the fish can see the lure clearly. Dark colors are often used in dark settings or night, because it is easier for the fish to see the outline of the lure in dark conditions. Bright colors are best suited for murky water.

Incoming Material Check:

All incoming materials are reviewed by the quality control team to ensure they are within established standards.

Plastic Parts Check:

Plastic parts are tested for defects, inconsistencies, and chemical composition.

Strength and Bonding Strength Test:

Hard bait body is sealed and shaken in a small container along with stones, then dropped from a specific height to test durability.

Soak Test:

Bait is submerged in water at a consistent temperature for 60 seconds, checking if bubbles and mist seep in.

Lead Weight Check:

Weight deviation of the counterweight must be within ±5% of the standard weight.

Electroplated Coating Check:

The adhesion of the electroplated coating is reviewed using modern testing equipment.

Swimming Action Test:

Completed baits are subjected to simulation to check their response in actual use.

Color Check:

RGB colorimeter test is conducted on the hard baits, checking for inconsistencies and degradation in color.

Package Check:

All aspects of the hard baits and the packaging is inspected visually and functionally to guarantee consistent detail and quality.

FAQ

Q: What are hard baits used for?

A: Hard baits are usually made from hard plastic, metal, or wood. They are designed to mimic the appearance and/or movement of live bait fish, insects, or other prey.

Q: How to use hardbody lures?

A: For hardbody lures I cast out as far as I can, and then commence a slow retrieve with small twitches of the rod tip whilst winding. Always spread your casts apart, aiming in slightly different areas each cast.

Q: What color lures to use when?

A: Transparent and ghost patterns also work well in clear water. For muddy water, fluorescent and dark colors stand out the best. Another effective tactic particularly for muddy water is adding contrast by using a different color skirt or dipping the tail of your baits in scented dyes.

Q: What is the best hard bait for bass?

A: Jigs, Crankbaits, Plastic Worms, Spinnerbaits, and swimbaits, are all effective bass lures. Most of these are very versatile lures making them practical for largemouth bass fishing in most conditions throughout the year when used effectively.

Q: Does topwater lure color matter?

A: Lure color doesn't matter as much as many people think. In clear water and light conditions, go with a lure that's light in color. If the water is very murky or you're fishing before or after the sun is up, then go with a lure that's darker in color.

Q: Are their hooks resistant to bending or breaking?

A: Lures are made from hard ABS plastic and equipped with two barbed tweeter hooks that are 2 times sharper

Q: How do you tell how deep a lure will go?

A: There are two ways you can determine the exact depth/lure/speed relationship of a specific rig. The first is to deploy it to a specific distance, then troll up a gradual shelf or edge until it starts dragging bottom. Note the depth, and try to crank it in before it snags.
